01.AI Partners with Kazakhstan on National AI Education Platform
Chinese AI company 01.AI has signed a cooperation agreement with Kazakh firm Q.AI to build a national AI education platform together with Kazakhstan's Ministry of Education, the parties announced at the 2026 SCO Digital Economy Forum held in Urumqi on September 15-16.
The project will introduce advanced AI technology and a "dual-teacher classroom" model, building AI infrastructure adapted to local conditions so that quality educational resources can be shared across the country.
Relying on large-model technology, the two sides will tackle engineering challenges such as network stability and build an intelligent teaching platform matched to local curricula and to the needs of teachers and students. The pilot uses an "AI dual-teacher classroom" in which teachers from major cities lead instruction online while local teachers support students on the ground, paired with classroom response devices that enable real-time interaction for every student — pushing urban teaching resources out to rural and small schools.
According to the partners, the project upgrades AI from a single-point tool into complete teaching infrastructure, exploring precision teaching and personalized learning at scale.
The program has already launched in 10 schools in Kazakhstan's Pavlodar and Kyzylorda regions, with classes starting on September 1. Under the Ministry of Education's plan, the pilot phase will cover 500 rural and small schools, with expansion to about 2,900 schools by 2029.
The initiative follows a decree signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in May 2026 on introducing artificial intelligence into secondary education; in August the government approved a comprehensive plan for AI in secondary education covering 2026-2029. Deputy Prime Minister and acting Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhasulan Madiyev presided over the launch of the pilot's first lesson.
