Tencent to Shut Down Yuanqi AI Agent Platform on November 9
Tencent has announced that Yuanqi, its one-stop AI agent creation and distribution platform, will be shut down on November 9, 2026, citing business adjustments. The company published the shutdown notice on its official site on October 8, confirming that existing agents will remain usable until the platform goes offline.
The wind-down runs in two stages. From October 29, 2026, Yuanqi will stop supporting the creation of new agents and will halt API key distribution. Agents already built before that date will keep running normally until the formal shutdown takes effect on November 9.
On November 9 the platform will close every public-facing service: application access, data read and write, API calls and console use. Yuanqi agent pages will no longer display, and agents previously published to external channels - including WeChat official accounts, service accounts and WeChat customer service - will stop responding to user conversations.
Tencent has set a two-month grace period for data. Between now and November 9 users can export agent configurations, workflows and conversation logs to local storage through the platform's export tool. From November 9 until January 9, 2027, an export console remains available for download requests. After January 9, 2027, all user data will be deleted, apart from logs that must be retained under applicable law.
For users who want to keep equivalent capabilities, Tencent is pointing to two replacements. Tencent Cloud's Agent Development Platform (ADP) offers agent building, knowledge bases and multi-channel publishing comparable to Yuanqi, while official account smart reply can sync published articles into a knowledge base and supports custom prompt settings. Users who bought resource packs through the old Yuanqi entry on Tencent Cloud and still hold unused resources or credit can apply for refunds.
Yuanqi was launched on May 17, 2024 at the Tencent Cloud generative AI industry application summit. Its pitch was low-cost, no-code agent building: users assembled assistants from prompts, knowledge bases, plugins and workflows, then distributed them to established channels such as QQ and WeChat with one click. An upgrade to version 1.0 in August 2025 added multi-agent collaboration and complex task planning.
This is the second Tencent agent product to be wound down within two months. On September 24 the desktop AI assistant QClaw said it would stop operating on December 24, with user data migratable to WorkBuddy and bonus credits offered. QClaw went live in March and had roughly 2.26 million monthly active users at the time of the announcement.
The move fits a wider contraction of first-generation low-barrier agent platforms. Baidu has adjusted parts of the Wenxin agent platform's creation entry, ByteDance has repositioned Coze toward a vibe-coding product, and between June and July Tencent Yuanbao, ByteDance Doubao and Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen each removed or tightened user-built agent features.
For education providers and content teams that used Yuanqi to build Q&A bots or course-support agents, the practical deadline is November 9 for self-service export, followed by a two-month window to request data through the export console before deletion begins in January 2027.
