Le Wagon, a French coding bootcamp, has raised its first funding round of $19 million led by Cathay Capital with participation from AfricInvest, according to Tech Crunch.

Founded in 2013, the startup has always been an 9-week coding bootcamp that teaches learners how to code tech products. It has focused on providing full-stack web development course since founding. As of today, Le Wagon has built a total of 38 campuses across over 20 countries.

“We’ve always bootstrapped since 2013, and we’ve always been profitable since day one,” Le Wagon co-founder and COO Romain Paillard told Tech Crunch. However, the company is going to gain more resourses for growth.

The fresh injection of capital will help Le Wagon add new courses and expand into other countries. Meanwhile, in addition to full-time course, it will also provide a part-time course which could take longer to complete.

Le Wagon entered China in 2016 and in the same year it opened two campuses in Shanghai and Chengdu. The third Chinese campus was established in Shenzhen a year ago.
