ByteDance, one of the most valuable unicorns, celebrated its eighth anniversary of the establishment on March 12th with the announcement of organizational structure upgrade. As the global CEO of ByteDance, Zhang Yiming said in the letter to employees he would focus on global expansion and new initiatives such as education.

Actually, ByteDance has already accelerated its push into education industry that products targeting all the education stages have been subsequently launched since 2018. In detail, ByteDance has covered all class sizes in online learning including its one-on-one brand GoGoKid, K-12 online tutoring large-size class Daliketang.com(清北网校) and the small-size class mzreading.com(大力小班) launched last December, moreover, it also has children English learning products named OpenLanguage(开言英语) and Tangyuan English(汤圆英语).

Despite the various products, ByteDance’s educational exploration does not go well and even faces doubtful voices. Zhang Yiming mentions in the letter: “Education is the new business of the company’s cross-border practice, and we will restart to put education as an important part of our business map.”
