58.com(NYSE: WUBA), a classified advertisements website serving local merchants and consumers in China, announced yesterday that it has reached strategic cooperation with Pearson and Beijing-based Outstanding International Education Company to establish a vocational education platform named “58 Tongcheng College(58同城大学)”, setting up 6 schools for the education of real estate agent, human resources, home-service skills, automotive service, online marketing, and new media.
According to 58.com, the College will introduce massive and high-quality training content, evaluation standards, and management system in the field of vocational education from Pearson, which provides the BTEC qualifications.
In addition, the College is planning to cooperate with more leading vocational education institutions to provide training, evaluation, and certification in employment skills and career development. Michael Yao(姚劲波), CEO of 58.com, said that the college aims to build 1,000 offline centers for vocational skills and career training in 200 cities.
