APDS Secures $5M Series B Round to Provide More Tablets to Learners in Prisons and Jails

APDS, which stands for American Prison Data Systems, is a New York-based company providing secure tablets to incarcerated learners. The company has recently announced $5 million Series B funding round co-led by previous investors New Markets Venture Partners and ReThink Education, with participation from Partnership Fund for New York City and Converge Venture Partners, as well as new investors ECMC Group, New U Venture Partners, and Strada Education Network, according to a statement.

The capital will help APDS develop its programs across correctional facilities and advance its learning platform and content.

Founded in 2012, APDS provides tablets to incarcerated inmates for learning purposes, such as GED preparation and English language learning. 

According to APDS, its tablets have been used by learners in 88 correctional facilities across 17 states.
