outschool官网.pngOutschool, a San Francisco-based small-group online learning platform, has recently announced a $45 million Series B round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from Reach Capital, Union Square Ventures, SV Angel, FundersClub, Y Combinator, and several others.

Founded in 2015, Outschool is an online marketplace that connects teachers and learners in small-group live classes. Outschool's offerings include a wide range of courses like cooking, games, piano performance, and language lessons.

The company has witnessed over 2,000% increase in bookings from August 2019 to August 2020. Since March, it has hired more than 5,000 teachers and launched Outschool in the UK, New Zealand, and Australia.

When the pandemic started, Outschool had 1,000 teachers on its platform, but now its marketplace hosts 10,000 teachers.

According to TechCrunch, Amir Nathoo, Outschool's CEO, said that was a big challenge. "We aren't an open marketplace, so we had to rapidly scale our supply and quality team within our organization."

The latest funding will be used to expand its team and develop products for its K-12 education marketplace.
