China-based EdTech Unicorn Huohua Siwei Closes $100M Series E2 Round Led by Tencent

Huohua Siwei,  a China-based online education platform for K-12 children that specializes in Mathematics and Science, today announces its Series E2 round of financing with 100 million dollars. This deal is led by Tencent, with Carlyle Group’s fund and Yuanfudao also participating.

Within two months, Huohua Siwei has secured 250 million dollars through two deals, respectively, $150 million in the E1 round and $100 million in the E2 round. As of now, the company has raised 440 million dollars in its funding history, topping among online small-sized course providers.

Luo Jian, the founder of Huohua Siwei, revealed in his letter to all staff that the company has attracted 85,000 daily learners on its various learning apps, and the number of Huahua Siwei’s total learners has reached 250,000. Plus, the referral rate has reached 85%, and the renewal rate of its products has highly reached 95% this July.

Last year, Huohua Siwei launched two products for “the big Chinese learning” and English education respectively. This marked that Huohua Siwei has gradually transformed from a company that focuses on mathematical thinking to a unicorn providing comprehensive online education.
