Kyt, an India-based edtech platform, announced to have raised $5 million in a Series A funding round led by Alpha Wave Incubation (AWI), with participation from Sequoia Capital India’s Surge, January Capital, Titan Capital, and other angel investors.
Founded in 2020, Kyt runs online-only extracurricular courses by combining live classes with video-based revision materials for children aged 5 to 15.
Kyt offers Kyt Academy and Kyt Workshops. Kyt Academy courses span up to 12 weeks and are designed for children passionate about specific knowledge areas outside of traditional curriculums - such as yoga, language, reading, and dance. Kyt Workshops provide one-time classes suitable for children who want to explore different interests and try multiple classes, including cooking, magic lessons, animation, rap, and poetry. All courses cater to both private and small groups.
According to a press release, the company will expand its operations to Abu Dhabi and use the Emirate as its regional headquarter to target the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), MENA, and other global markets, including the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia. It will also build a team of data scientists, product managers, and engineers located in Abu Dhabi.
The latest funding will also be used to invest in technology and product and enhance students' overall experience.
