Quizizz, an India-based edtech startup, announced a $12.5 million Series A funding round led by Eight Roads Ventures, with participation from GSV Ventures, Rocketship VC, as well as existing investors Nexus Venture Partners and Prime Venture Partners, according to its press release.

Founded in 2015, Quizizz helps teachers and enterprises create gamified quizzes and interactive lessons. It claimed teachers can use and customize over 30 million quizzes and lessons spanning primary school mathematics to career and technical education. In 2020, students collectively answered more than 13 billion questions on the platform.

Based on a freemium model, Quizizz is free to use, but users need to pay for some extra features, including detailed answer explanations, custom topic tagging and reporting, performance dashboard, analytics, premium question repositories, and other value additions.

Quizizz said it will use this new funding to expand its team to support school and corporate customers and accelerate international user growth.
