Renaissance announced to acquire literacy company Lalilo with terms of the deal undisclosed.

Founded in 2016, Paris-based Lalilo’s online literacy product focuses on helping K-2 students develop phonics, word recognition and reading comprehension skills through a series of online exercises and stories.

Its lessons are aligned with standardised education protocols, and use phonological awareness, phonics, word work, comprehension, and grammar tools.

The platform also provides learning data, performance metrics, and planning tools that provide teachers assign practice in specific skills, according to the company.

To date, over 50,000 teachers and 360,000 students in the US and France are using Lalio’s offerings.

Renaissance has acquired Nearpod, which provides interactive lessons, videos, and formative assessments, in February.
