Xiniao Education(犀鸟教育), a vocational training program provider based in Tianjin, has raised nearly RMB100 million in Series A funding round led by China Distance Education Holdings Limited, a provider of online education and value-added services for professionals and corporate clients that went public in 2008. And the company also led Xiniao’s Pre-A round in January 2020.
According to founder Ding Ya, the latest capital will be used for curriculum and technology R&D, as well as market expansion out of the metro cities.
Founded in 2016, Xiniao targets Generation Z and provides young adults with exam preparation services covering training on the civil servant, graduate entrance, teacher certificate, and Certified Public Accountant through offline and online courses.
In the future, Xiniao plans to go into lower-tier cities by adopting the model of “self-operated + franchise”, which means that the company offers brand, traffic flow, standard teaching and research systems, and financial support to franchised branch schools, and digital learning content delivered on the online platform are also accessible.
The franchised branch schools are not allowed to recruit teachers, and the teaching staff will be arranged and deployed by headquarters.
