As off-campus tutoring during compulsory education period has been clamped down in China, Yuanfudao, a Beijing-based homework tutoring app, officially unveiled a new product called Pumpkin Science on Thursday, pivoting to competency-based STEAM education for children from K-12 online tutoring.
Pumpkin Science, which was first initiated in 2019, and then has began its trial run since May in 2020, provides offerings, including picture books, science experiments, life skill learning, science radio, and Q & A, to help children from 3 years of age build up their STEAM competences.
According to a statement, the product to date has over 30,000 paid users, and has answered more than 3.2 million questions through its app.
In addition to the product, Yuanfudao, an edtech unicorn which has raised more than $4 billion in funding from investors like Tencent, DST Global, and IDG Capital, is exploring other competency-based education products, including Yuan Code and Zebra App.
