On Nov. 25th, online coding platform WeCode announced its series A round of financing with millions of US dollars, led by Welight Capital and joined by the original shareholder Tiantu Capital. Proceeds of this round will be used for investment in teaching research & development, products upgrade and marketing, etc.
Founded in January 2018, WeCode offers coding education for teenagers aged from 6 to 14, and the curriculum covers a full stage including Scratch language introductory courses, Python courses for improvement and C ++ courses adapting into competitions.
WeCode’s feature lies in the “AI dual-teacher model” meaning of “AI intelligent engine + exclusive tutor”, which deals with the problem of teacher and resources shortage and provide real-time solutions through high-frequency interaction to satisfy students’ learning needs.
It is reported that WeCode has over 70,000 students at this stage and students who completed all the courses accounting for approximately 90%, and the renewal rate has reached 80%. On Nov. 11th(regarded as a Chinese shopping holiday and become the largest offline and online shopping day in the world), WeCode’s programming courses achieved the sales of more than 1 million RMB. The founder Sun He said that after the new round of financing, WeCode will increase more investment in curriculum research and product development.
