Arbol, a financial platform for students and colleges based in the New York State, receives $100,000 from the Western New York Impact Investment Fund as part of a larger pre-seed round that so far has raised $350,000 to help expand its operations.
The University at Buffalo invested $250,000 in the round through its Buffalo Innovation Seed Fund, following a previous investment of $100,000 in the company through its Cultivator program, according to Buffalo News.
The startup provides students with financial management solutions, and helps higher education institutions with a proactive alert system to assist their most financially vulnerable students, thus raising retention rates and enrolling more students.
