iCourse International has been officially co-launched yesterday by China's Higher Education Press and NetEase Youdao(NYSE: DAO), providing 193 new-uploaded free courses from Chinese universities for overseas students. Amid the COVID-19 crisis, the Chinese version released in 2014 has become well-known as one of the remote learning solutions recommended by UNESCO.
For the next step, iCourse International is planning to upload more high-quality courses, provide a more friendly user experience, as well as further improve platform services and technologies based on the feedback from overseas customers.
On April 10th, a video conference was held in Beijing on the topic of developing the international version of online education platforms based on the courses from China's universities. Top schools are encouraged to launch video courses suitable for overseas students to learn. In this context, iCourse and XuetangX which is supported by Tsinghua University have been selected by MOE as the first batch of MOOC platforms to provide courses taught in English, plus, the latter has launched the overseas version on April 20th.
