Online tutor marketplace GoStudent raises €205 million Series C for global expansion

GoStudent, a Vienna, Austria-based edtech startup, has recently announced a €205 million Series C funding round led by DST Global, which values the company at €1.4 billion, and also makes it the highest-valued edtech startup in Europe, the company said.

New investors, including SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Tencent, and Dragoneer, as well as existing investors including Coatue, Left Lane Capital, and DN Capital also invested in this round.The company has raised a total of over €291M in funding to date.

Founded in 2016, GoStudent is an online tutor marketplace which connects students with tutors covering 30 subjects, including science, math, computing, languages, history, business and more. The company sells monthly tutoring subscriptions to parents, taking a cut from the tutors’ earnings as commission. 

The fresh capital will help the company go across and beyond Europe. GoStudent said it has expanded into 18 countries, and set up 12 offices. It has witnessed 400,000 sessions booked monthly on its platform, and sales have grown 700% over the last 12 months.
