India-based Edtech unicorn upGrad Merges Harappa Education at a value of USD 38M

upGrad, Asia’s largest integrated higher Edtech major has recently announced a 100% merger of Harappa Education at a value of USD 38 million (INR 300 crores).

upGrad closed this transaction with present Harappa shareholders - Bodhi Tree Systems, (a newly formed platform between James Murdoch & Uday Shankar) and Co-founders Pramath Raj Sinha & Shreyasi Singh. All of them join the upGrad Cap table. EY acted as the advisor for Harappa on the transaction.

The New Delhi-based Harappa Education was launched in 2018 and is an online education platform that helps individuals to upskill themselves in the areas of their profession.

Founded in 2015, upGrad is a pioneer in the online education revolution focusing on powering career success for a global workforce of over 1.3 billion. Currently, upGrad is valued at 1.2 billion dollars. 

Already termed Asia’s higher EdTech leader it has offices in the UK, U.S., Middle East, India, Singapore & Vietnam, and a presence in many more countries.

During the past two years, upGrad has completed acquisitions of ten startups, including Rekrut, Work Better Training, Gate Academy, Impartus, KnowledgeHut, Global Study Partners, Talentedge, INSOFE, and Wolves India.
