Marathon, a Vietnam-based edtech startup, announces today that it has secured a seed funding round led by Vulcan Capital, with the participation also from Forge Ventures, DSG Consumer Partners, and Goodwater Capital.

According to the company, the fresh capital will be used for product development and expansion purposes. It aims to expand its online-to-offline experience centers beyond Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The startup was co-founded by Duc Pham, former investment executive at TPG Capital, along with Tran Viet Tung, former Vietnam country head for Klook in 2021.

Marathon provides K-12 students with live online tutoring courses covering hundreds of individual tutors. The company claims that it has seen a 30% growth in monthly users during its first year of operations.

In August last year, Marathon raised US$1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Forge Ventures.
