Edupia, a Vietnam-based edtech startup focusing on providing online learning service for K-12 students, announces today it has raised US$14 million in a series A round of financing led by Jungle Ventures, with the participation from Alibaba-backed eWTP Capital and Vietnamese firm ThinkZone Ventures. After this round, Edupia has raised US$16 million in total.

Founded in 2018, Edupia aims to provide an easy and accessible English-learning platform for kids under the age of 6 as well as primary and secondary students, with the objective to eliminate language-based inequalities in Vietnam.

Starting as a self-learning platform, the startup has expanded into live classes and private tutoring. Currently, it has over 5 million users. Edupia also claims that it is seeing demand from Southeast Asian markets including Indonesia, Thailand, and Myanmar.

“Language should not be a barrier to opportunity and access,” said Tran Duc Hung, the founder of the platform: “Edupia bridges the big education gap among students between metros and lower-tier cities.”

Focusing on products for K-12 students, Edupia has been expanding into mathematics and coding besides English. The startup also plans to enter Thailand and Indonesia with its tech features and solutions.
