Chinese e-commerce company JD.com announced recently that it plans to increase investment in building up cooperative industry colleges. In 2023, the company will select 100 colleges and universities across China to jointly build “Intelligent Supply Chain College”, “Digital Business Industry College”, "Rural Revitalization ( Digital Village) Industrial College” and “New Engineering (Intelligent Manufacturing) Industrial College”, forming a multi-field and multi-dimensional provincial and municipal industry-education alliance supported by industrial colleges.
According to the company, JD.com is positioned as a “supply chain-based technology and service provider”. At present, its business has involved retail, technology, logistics, healthcare, insurance, production and development, industry, self-owned brand, and other international business.
And JD.com is planning to build 3-5 special industrial colleges covering logistics, e-commerce, rural revitalization, new engineering, and intelligent manufacturing in each province.
It is also committed to cooperating with colleges and universities to jointly promote the integrated talent training of e-commerce and logistics in regional production areas. By integrating regional resources, JD.com aims to build a talent training center and a regional public training base in cooperation with colleges and universities within the region.
At the same time, JD.com focuses on the digital upgrade consultation of professional groups and the revision of talent training plans, as well as supports colleges and universities to carry out scientific research and industry-university cooperation (joint laboratories). Moreover, it also supports international cooperation among institutions.
