Whales English Elite Education Raised ¥100 Million in Series B Round

Whales English Elite Education announced yesterday its Series B round of financing with 100 million led by Sino-Ocean capital, with Hike Capital and Fresh Capital also participating. The latest funds will be used for the improvement of product quality and service efficiency.

Established in 2012, Whales English is an online school based in Beijing, catering to language learners aged 3 to 18 and covering 50,000 registered students with the unique group class model providing subject-based curriculum for 2 to 3 students to study at the same class. Amid the chill capital market of the children English education sector, the company has got considerable revenue in 2019 with a five-fold increase, benefiting from the traffic flows brought by renewals and word-of-mouth marketing strategies.

Talking about the development plan for 2020, Tom Wu, the CEO of Whales English, states that the primary goal is to focus on the improvement of products, teaching faculty and services.
