SketchyMedical, a Los Angeles-based online medical education company, raised $30 million from TCG, the investment arm of Chernin Group.
The funding will be used to add new offerings, accelerate growth and build on its online learning platform.
Founded in 2013, SketchyMedical helps students to learn complex concepts through visual memory rather than rote memorization techniques. It offers courses in microbiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and OB/GYN.
According to Los Angeles Business Journal, Sketchy is expected to grow its offerings in to areas such as pharmacy school, physician's assistant education and undergraduate studies with the investment, said Sketchy Co-Founder and Chief Executive Saud Siddiqui.
