Educative, a Seattle-based provider of skill development platform for software developers and the companies that employ and train them, raised $12M in its Series A funding round led by Matrix Partners.

Other backers include Trilogy Equity Partners, Lookout founder Kevin Mahaffey, Mercury.com founder Immad Akhund, and Segment founder Ilya Volodarsky. Its total funding to date hit $14.6 million.

Launched in 2016, Educative helps software engineers learn tech skills via its web-based interactive learning platform. The company targets both consumers and enterprises, which use Educative to train their workforce.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its growth in the B2B space to help companies onboard and upskill engineers, as well as develop their engineering managers. It also plans to grow its headcount from 130 people to 300 by the end of 2021.
