Clipboard, an Australian edtech startup providing software for managing extracurricular school activities, announced yesterday that it has secured A$3.1 million in a ventured round of financing led by Equity Venture Partners, with the participation also from Jelix Ventures and Sprint Ventures.

According to the company, the fresh cash injection will be used to further build out the platform and hire more staff.

Clipboard was originally developed in Sydney back in 2017 by then-uni students Ed Colyer and Sam Clarke. While coaching basketball at their former high school, they found that most schools in Australia still used manual systems to organize extracurricular programs and activities, which brought much limitations to organization and communication.

To improve child safety and communication between staff, parents and students, they created a mobile-friendly and single-point platform to manage all activities and communication. After trialing at their former school, the platform has been introduced in over 100 schools in Australia and southeast Asia and saw a 200% uptick in growth in the last financial year.

The startup claims that they had no sales team to date and the business was built off the referrals from existing customers.

It is reported that EVP partner Daniel Szekely has also joined the Clipboard board off the back of the investment.
